Design your Strategy

Our experts

The challenge

For many organizations, this sounds recognizable: after months of work, there is finally a strategy document, a milestone! But soon the 89-page document disappears in a desk drawer and the slide deck collects digital dust on the intranet. Day-to-day operations barely change or move agonizingly slowly.

At Flatland, we believe a strategy should be simple enough to remember and beautiful enough to frame. We make your organization’s strategy visual and understandable.

Our approach ensures that you reach a shared understanding faster: you avoid thinking that you are talking about the same thing, but that there are actually different interpretations. This creates a future-oriented strategy that is both inspiring and executable. The result is that everyone in the organization knows, understands and actively contributes to the course.

This what your strategy could look like

Solution

This is how we create
a supported strategy

Methodology

Aim

We start by focusing your organization by defining vision and strategic objectives. Through, for example, a strategy two-day and validation with stakeholders, we create a clear direction. There is a powerful visualization of the strategy. Employees feel heard.

Design the set up

In this phase, we set up structures and processes to support strategic goals. Among other things, we develop roadmaps and sub-visualizations. Team leaders can clearly retell the strategy and translate into their own annual plans to flesh it out.

Perform

The strategy is put into practice with concrete actions and tools such as reporting dashboards and communication plans. We monitor and adjust where necessary. There is a strong connection between strategy and execution, with increased ownership.

The result of our strategy process

  • Clarity and direction: a visually defined strategy, which makes the essence of your course clear and understandable to everyone in the organization.
  • Involvement and ownership: the method ensures broad support and active ownership. Your team feels truly connected to the strategy.
  • Inspiration and energy: an approach that sparked enthusiasm, leading to increased motivation and better business results.

You might wonder...

  • A strategy requires the right balance of abstraction and concreteness. You want to allow enough room for individual interpretation while providing clear frameworks for the organization. Often, it’s only in the implementation phase that you realize there are different perceptions of the strategy. By visualizing a strategic direction early on, these differences become apparent quickly, allowing us to build a shared vision of the future.

  • Co-creation contributes to the credibility and acceptance of the strategy. By involving stakeholders early on, they feel heard and are more likely to commit to making the strategy a reality.

  • For an organization with 300 or more people, we recommend budgeting between €25,000 and €45,000.

  • Ideally, the creation of communication tools and strategy design go hand in hand. However, we can still utilize co-creation to effectively convey the core messages of the strategy and build support. Such a compact design process takes about six weeks and consists of several sessions, which can be conducted both live and digitally.
