Visualisations Global Drinking Water for TU Delft

The Global Drinking Water programme supports a wide range of water supply research projects. With drawings, we make issues and results clear and concrete.

The collaboration with Flatland

TU Delft’s Waterlab combines scientific research with practical field research in developing countries. This approach accelerates innovation and improves local involvement and acceptance by end users. To clarify steps and results for both researchers and stakeholders, we are regularly involved for visualisations and talking boards.

Online conference Access to Drinking Water

Huge progress can be made with investing in technology and infrastructure for safe drinking water. More than 100 participants from all over the world therefore participated in the online conference Access to Drinking Water: Co-creation in Africa #SDG, from Pakistan to Mozambique and from Sweden to Bangladesh. Several research projects were shared in this online conference.

During the event, the presentations and discussions were visualised live. A great record of the event, but moreover, a live drawing during online meetings – no matter how big or small – gives much more focus and clarity.

Pathways to a sustainable water future in deltas

TU Delft | Global Initiative also organised a conference on sustainable water supplies in delta regions and we made a visualisation of all the presentations and discussions. Scientists presented various studies within the theme ‘Pathways to a sustainable water future in deltas’.

12 facts about COVID-19 virus in water

We also created a visual about (drinking) water and the Corona crisis. Because the virus reaches the whole world, including rural communities, there are many questions about how the corona virus relates to water. Is it still safe to use untreated water? Can the virus be present in tap water or rivers? How can I best protect myself from COVID-19?

To answer these questions, TU Delft | Global Drinking Water collaborated with us to create a user-friendly visual overview of 12 facts about COVID-19 virus in water. The illustration describes the importance of access to water and hygiene during this global pandemic, and what behavioural changes people in rural communities can make to best prevent the spread of COVID-19. A visualisation makes this clear and easy to understand.

Symposium and Best Paper Award

On the occasion of International World Water Day 2019, they organised the first edition of the TU Delft | Global Drinking Water Best Paper Award. An annual recognition for researchers who contribute to SDG6.1: achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all. With the award, the Global Drinking Water programme aims to stimulate research on this topic.

We supported the symposium with live visualisations so that all research results could be shared in an orderly manner. We summarised the various presentations and a panel discussion in six drawings.
